In collaboration with illy, artist Ai Weiwei a man with a rich and diverse background of artistic pursuits harkens back to 2006 for inspiration from the past. More specifically, to a desecration of Neolithic era vases that he dipped in industrial paint in an act that destroyed their historical and cultural value, but created something new in the process.

Looking back to that moment, he has created something truly special with his Illy Art Collection Cups. Featuring a dipped paint motif on the rim, and outward spatter on the saucer, he has once again desecrated an ancient form (the cup) and transformed it into something modern and new.
